This family inherited its wealth from its forbears who were handsomely rewarded by the british in cash, vast tracts of land and titles. for services rendered. The hangers-on basked in its reflected 'glory' ! I remember well how Sirimavo always referred to the Bandaranaike Policies - which were to retain power at any cost. Those who followed are doing the same thing.
