Last week the Jaffna diocese released a lis of more than 700 people missing since 2006 and Jafna comes under the govt. controlled area, who is going to trace them Mr.Palitha Kohona ?

Correction: Palitha Kohona is the secretary to the Minister for foreign affair, but one could be forgiven for making this mistake as the minister responsible for the subject comes to Sri Lanka only for his holidays.

The danger is that these disappearances will continue even without a war. The abduction of journalists and buisness owners is one obvious indication. The assassination of opposing politicians like Sivanesan shows that no one is safe. GOSL is ruthless and paranoid to the extreme; it is far worse than the LTTE, which probably explains why even most of the Sinhalese intelligentsia left the country for greener pastures when the going was good.

Inspite of promises at the UN Human rights Council, the government of Sri Lanka is either unable or unwilling to reverse the killings, murders, disappearances and displacements.

The last displacemnts from Madhu Church by the shelling carried out by government soldiers is criminal.

The Sinhala unilateralists not only bluffed the International Community into inaction, they even bluffed the Vatican. They even made the Pope to believe that the Human Rights violations and challenge to the dignity of man are not to the extent in Somalia and Sri Lanka.

This came out clearly in the Easter messge of the Pope.

May be through the Madhu Church incident God is speaking to the Pope.

So Raymond- where are the hundreds of abductions by LTTE for war? Where are the names of hundreds claiming Asylem in West? (Which are in the disappered list? What is wrong winng by TMVP when some one else holding 2 distrcts without any election by gunpoint? Come one be Objective. I know about Fr Miller. He is ever so pessimistic? Any thing not sacntioned by his church is wrong for him. Yes there are violations from both sides and lets try to stop the war and these will stop. No one can blame only GOSL for the ar. LTTE is equaly to blame for the current round of fighting. I don’t like these killingsor abductions but in a context or – there is no JUST war any where- not in Iraq, Afghanisthan or any where else.

Since the current government came to power there were thousands on incidents, kidnappings, murders, extrajudicial killings, beheadings and so on.

What does this show? The policy of the GOSL is to terrorize ethnic Tamils and continue to commit war crimes as Intl Community failed to question or accuse the GOSL yet on these crimes against humanity.

GOSL’s action simply increase the support for Tigers and harden the moderate Tamils. After the reports from EU, Human Rights Watch, Unviversity Teachers Union, US State dept and so on, it is time to charge the GOSL for State Terrorism and War Crimes.
